GEO 600 Portal
GEO600 is a gravitational wave detector – a laser interferometer with 600 meter long arms. Gravitational waves are tiny ripples in space-time caused by astrophysical events, e.g., supernovae or coalescing binaries (neutron stars, black holes). Albert Einstein predicted gravitational waves in 1916, but they have not yet been directly observed.
